Imo only in retrospect can you say they fought like old men in original star wars. Still think as stand-alone movies they're not that great, as you guys mentioned, but Lucas made these as basically a Shakespearean space drama, and can see that for how they fought like fencers & focused more on the drama/ delivering lines than fighting like savage beasts. Of course as star wars got huge/ didn't flop of course, opened up possibilities
